Adventures into creating wearable crochet wings

Version 1

Somewhere during the summer of 2023 I had the idea of trying to combine my love of fantasy with my fibers work. The final result was a pair of wearable crochet wings made out of 22 gauge steel wire, mohair and acrylic yarn. 

They were made by bending a U shape out of the wire and adding I cords to cover them. The actual crochet “web” of the wing was done directly onto the structure.

Version 2

I made a second pair during 2024 and fully documented the process of that pair in order to break it down in more detail. the base is made out of 22 gauge steel wire that is bent to create the veins and structure of the wings
